Toward
the Southern part of Amorgos, the landscape begins to change.
The terrain becomes gentler, opening into wide valleys with
fields, cultivated in the traditional manner, and scattered
small villages, with a clearly agricultural composition.
In this area the villages of Kamari, Vroutsi and the magical
beach of Mouros. Further west, Arkesini contains many important
historic remnants as well as the tower of Agia Triada from
the Classical Hellinistic period.
Continuing South towards the valley of Kolofana is the best
land for cultivation on the island. The picturesque coasts
of Parathissia, Kato Kambo, and Kalotaritissa are natural
shelters from the wild winds for little boats. There is
also the large church of Agia Paraskevi where a big summer
festival takes place on the 26th of July.
